MMRIT Turns 30 Years Old Today!

We’re delighted to announce that 30 years ago today MMRIT was formed and continues to grow from strength to strength.

How it all began

Back in 1988, Moira Pollard and Douglas Brown founded MMRIT as they were sick of the corporate life and felt that they could do things much better than the competition out there. And in the last 30 years, the whole ethos of doing things much better than the competition and placing customers at the forefront of the business is what has helped MMRIT to remain relevant, consistent and robust today.

How we’ve evolved

Since 1988 we’ve come a long way. Going back some 30 years, home users (if they were lucky enough) had a Tandy 1000 TL desktop PC with 640KB RAM and storage via a 3.5-inch floppy disk. And if they were really lucky, they had a laptop, typically with 1MB of RAM, 20MB of storage and up to 2 hours battery life.

Fast forward to 2018, and mobile computing is now a commodity. Today’s mobile phones have capacity thousands of times more than the PCs of 30 years ago. We send and receive single emails daily exceeding the capacity of old technology, and this is just one of the many reasons why MMRIT has adapted with the technology and remained resilient.

MMRIT Today

Managed by partners Tim Lines, Lai Chiu and Chief Operating Officer Carl Chapman, the senior management team have rolled out a series of new services to help clients remain ahead of the technology curve.

Tim Lines, Managing Partner of MMRIT adds “technology is a good example of an area where we’ve had to stay ahead of the curve. Our clients expect us to be aware of the latest technology and infrastructure improvements – and where appropriate to recommend their use – so in order to deliver the best service, we need to have a clear understanding of technologies as they evolve”.

Carl Chapman, Chief Operating Officer of MMRIT, commented that “technology is growing at a much faster rate than ever before.  For example, as the cybersecurity landscape has evolved, we have invested heavily in our cybersecurity services to ensure that we are proactively protecting our customers and that they can rely on us to keep them safe from cyber attacks”.

To celebrate MMRIT’s 30 year anniversary, we’ve outlined some of the company’s achievements.
